Endogenous Tourism

The Tenth Plan has identified tourism as one of the major sources for generating employment and promoting sustainable livelihoods. The Union ministry of tourism in collaboration with UNDP has launched the Endogenous Tourism Program. The workshops were meant to bring together the individuals, NGOs & district administration involved in the 23 locations all over the country. We were one of the representatives on the Pochampalli project.

Conservation of Indo-Dutch Heritage

The goal was to prepare a road map for the future for conserving Indo-dutch heritage settlements in India based on the work done in the previous two years by those involved in each of the 15 sites identified for restoration by the Netherlands embassy. We represented the Bimlipatnam project in Andhra Pradesh.

Sustainable Habitat and Livelihoods for the Poor

Development Alternatives, as the South Asian node of the building advisory services and information network (basin) hosted the II International Basin Conference. It was an effort to share and build upon the  learning from past experiences in the habitat and livelihood sectors. Representing NGOs, the government, private sector and academia, the participants deliberated, debated and worked together for three days to identify possible solutions that could enhance the effectiveness and relevance of habitat and livelihood interventions.

Heritage Conservation for Coastal Regions

This workshop was initiated by the Indian National Trust for Architectural & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) to formulate policies covering aspects of planning, development and conservation for coastal regions.
