In India, there are many small towns that have quaint and historic streets which remain obscure and neglected. Bimilipatnam is one such coastal town near Visakhapatnam. It has some English, some Dutch and some Indian heritage. In March 2002, a Conservation workshop was initiated here with its focus on participation of the local people. This paper attempts to share how different people gradually became a part of the conservation process.

Co-written with Aslam Mukhtiar. January 1990

 

India Disaster Report (OXFAM, Mumbai) “Cyclones – Trapped in a Spin cycle” Contributed to the chapter with R.Prakasham & Ray d’Silva. The research included a study of the conditions prevalent in the villages during cyclones - through visits to Gokivada and Mellipaka, in Visakhapatnam district. The IDR was published in 2000.
